Within weeks he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to win his first IWGP Heavyweight Championship, announcing himself as the promotion’s new centrepiece.

The most known finisher used by Okada is the Rainmaker, which is a short-arm lariat that the professional wrestler executes by first spinning his opponent around by grabbing his wrist. This is more of a show rather than just an attack as Okada always finishes his entrances with spraying confetti, which gave him the idea for this gimmick. Moreover, there are Money Clip, which is a modified neck and shoulder submission hold, and Red Ink, which is the cross-legged STF developed by Okada in 2013.
Apart from his finishers, Okada is known for his ability to tell stories within the long match and for his perfect pacing. The dropkick of Kazuchika Okada is considered the best one in the world of professional wrestling, and the fact that he can build a 30-minute main event match to the end is the key to receiving such good ratings among the critics.
