Who Is Red Velvet?
Red Velvet is an American professional wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling, where she also competes for its sister promotion Ring of Honor. Known for her athletic, dance-influenced style and vibrant personality, she became a breakout name after joining AEW early in the company’s history and later aligning with Jade Cargill and Kiera Hogan in the Baddies.
Away from her colourful character, Red Velvet carries a serious fighting pedigree. She is the daughter of a world boxing champion and has turned her own athletic background into one of the most consistent runs in ROH’s women’s division, including a record-setting reign as Women’s World Television Champion.
Red Velvet Age, Real Name, and Early Life
Red Velvet was born Stephanie M. Cardona on June 3, 1992, in Miami, Florida, which makes her 34 years old in 2026. Of Colombian descent, she grew up in a family steeped in combat sports and trained as a dancer long before she ever stepped into a wrestling ring, a background that still shows in her quick, rhythmic movement between the ropes.
She began training to wrestle in 2015 with Fighting Evolution Wrestling under coach JB Cool and made her in-ring debut in 2016. Her early work on the independent scene, including a run in the all-women’s promotion SHINE, built the foundation for her later national breakthrough.

One of the most striking parts of Red Velvet’s story is her family background in boxing. Her father, Prudencio Cardona, was a world flyweight boxing champion, and her uncle, Ricardo Cardona, was a world super bantamweight champion. Growing up around championship-level fighting gave her an early understanding of combat sports that she later carried into professional wrestling.

In April 2022 she joined the Baddies, a heel group led by Jade Cargill that also featured Kiera Hogan, which raised her profile considerably. As AEW expanded its relaunched Ring of Honor brand, Red Velvet became a cornerstone of the ROH women’s division, where she would go on to win its top television title.
